Mod Kits the modkit involves the replacement of jp 36 in the Cobra 29 (and similar chassis') with a resistor and electrolytic capacitor. this "modification" will NOT allow the transmitter to produce MORE power but LESS. it's initial purpose was to allow the alteration of the carrier and peak modulation levels to safely drive an amplifier. today this "modification" is used mainly by wanna be radio technicians who lack the necessary wherewithall to perform a proper alignment which by the way provides higher output levels than this "modkit" does........ another modification usually performed in addition to the above is to bridge or bypass the 1N4003 at D8. this completely destroys the negative-peak limiting ability associated with the amc circuit. modifications such as these are destroying your expensive radio equipment. these "modifications" also can be extremely destructive with regard to the final stage of the transmitter. if you care about your expensive equipment you do not want these "modifications" implemented in your radio.
