NAME: Roger Beep E MAIL: rogerbeep@ieee.org SUBJECT: Blacklisted C.B. Shops MESSAGE: ... The pictures you posted from calhoun cb shop has proved nothing negative about that shop. ... Roger Beep, the pictures that are posted prove that the idiot who performed the "work" at Calhoun CB Shop needs a job at Burger King........C53, R55 and the AMC VR control has been removed from the board in one radio and two components in the amc circuit have been removed in another, along with the addition of a second, unnecessary talkback circuit. if the amc circuit had been left alone and the transmitter adjusted properly the relay and the other crap would not have been needed. the fact that you don't see this as anything negative tells me that you know nothing about this equipment and have absolutely no business inside of it. you are doing a disservice to your customers and creating a lot of unnecessary work to justify your theft of their hard-earned money, just like the rest of the 90+% of the radio shops in this country. You are full of s__t! If you put D-11 back, a cobra 29 will not have a forward power to 36 watts. You are a liar. I will look forward to this reply on your site, or will you put it there to be veiwed. ARE YOU A CHICKEN ! Roger Beep, No, not as long as you're the one behind the "golden wirecutters" it won't, lol! the problem is that if YOU put D-11 back then YOU can't get it to do 36 watts. your definition of a liar is someone who CAN do something that you CAN'T. if you plan to retaliate you can dispense with the name calling and the language. if not then no further replies will be posted here. NAME: Freddy Kruger E MAIL: darkcuban@jam.rr.com SUBJECT: Who the hell do you think you are? MESSAGE: I have reviewed your "blacklist" on cb shops to avoid in the US. After reading your comments on the myriad of ways to eliminate the amc circuit in cb radios, I have concluded that you are an old school ham radio operator. It is my opinion that you only know how to do the job one way, by FCC part 15 bylaws. You have bad mouthed every shop on this list. The one shop in particular is Calhoun Cb Shop. You honestly think that simply b/c the tech removed every part of the amc circuit that he damaged that radio in anyway? I think not. Let me also remind you that I am an ex ham and know how all of your kind think. Your type is not the style to take things to the peak of the envelope. Well, I'm here to tell you that your style of fellow men are the ones that watch grass grow and sit around playing checkers all day. Do I know that more than 100% modulation is considered excessive? YES! Do I know that excessive modulation causes bleed over? YES! Do I know that excessive modulation causes clipping. YES! Do I know that these things in 99% of all cb radios on the market today make the radio sound AWESOME when performed correctly, YES! You know as well as I do that the radios are limited to FCC rules part 15 when it leaves the factory or it cannot be sold for citizens band use in the US. You know as well as I know that the units are more than capable of producing the audio and power output levels that are achieved by removal or disabling of the amc circuit. Don't try to tell me that you have seen a Cobra 29, amc disabled, tuned for maximum forward power swing backwards on a Bird. Your full of sh!t! I have done this same operation time and time again, tested it on a bird RMS reading meter, and have NEVER watched rearward modulation. It has always modulated forward. I don't know where you get your information, but you need to get your story straight before attempting to warn people off of your "blacklist". Hell, I'm sure that a few of them don't even deserve to be on there. Just b/c your belief is not to disable a amc circuit doesn't make you right. I would love for you to try and make money in the CB industry with your snake oil tactics. Now, I will agree that there are some shops that DO need to be on that list. Bronco's being one of them. The pictures you posted from calhoun cb shop has proved nothing negative about that shop. You simply need to learn how to make a radio do what they have the potential to do. Now, why don't you write up nice huge articles on this topic. Nice photos showing screen shots of computer oscilliscope programs illustrating the negative difference that the lack of amc cicuit makes. You ever think that some people might not know what there looking at in your supposed "bad idea" pictures? You know that some people don't believe everything they read on the internet, and the lack of evidence is here to make me not want to read your site either. Go try to sell your crap to someone else. Freddy Kruger i have reviewed your email comments thoroughly. after doing so i have concluded several things. #1 maintaining the operation of the amc circuit in these radios while being able to develop power levels in excess of 35 watts pep does not exactly comply with part 15 bylaws. #2 stripping and gutting the amc circuit EXCEEDS the peak of the envelope. #3 i don't play checkers. chess is my game of choice. while i play chess i do not usually do so from a seated position. way too busy to be seated while playing. i'm also a firm adherent of desert landscaping. no grass growing here, under my feet or otherwise. #4 i did not make the comments regarding the Bird wattmeter that you refer to in your diatribe. if anyone would like to see for themselves the relevant scope patterns that you're droning on about, Bill Eitner, KD6TAS has an excellent am tutorial replete with scope pics at: http://www.cbtricks.com/~kd6tas/amsig.htm #5 everyone on the list deserves to be there. #6 rule #1....i am always right. rule #2....if you think i may be wrong, see rule #1. #7 Calhoun definitely deserves to be on the blacklist. if you have the cahones to tell us who you are we will make sure that you make the list too! #8 while i may be "old school", at least i "went to school". #9 i don't usually correspond with people who are afraid to identify themselves. in your case i made an exception. Freddy Kruger wasn't a radio technician and neither are you. #10 if and when i need someone to advise me as to content for my website, you can rest assured, you'll be the last to know. who the hell do i think i am? i'm the guy who repairs the radios that guys like you butcher. 228 Hello, here is one to check out i drive for a big company one of are drivers stopped in at west memphis cb shop next to the petro truck stop had problems then were trouble shooting his systen lol told him he had bad coax and needed radio work they took the radio in and he parked his truck in less than 5 mins they had his radio tuned yeah right and he paid the 170.00 no lube supplied hooked it up same problem hooked my meter up to it red line on key ckecked it out romoved the fiberglass antenna and put one on i had hmmm swr's went down. 170.00 to a shop who cant read a damn meter as for the good list you talked about i am a Forum Administrator for radiotech.org we have alot of people asking where good shops are if you can send me the list to post maybe we can keep a few others from getting screwed by shops who cant read a damn meter! thanks for your time. shawn Hello, I came across your blacklist via google and was wondering if you was aware of a good shop in the Oklahoma City area. I have a Uniden 78LTW that I need some inside work done... its out of warranty ;-) Thank you for your time. 73's to you. Poncho Hello, There's A CB shop on I-30 Exit 7 in Arkansas thats been there about 4mo. They use to work for Billy Ward who calls himself the Galaxy CB Doctor. They use his same tricks, Power conv. Mod kits, and Etc.While I was in there Shop an older man who was the tech. Didn't even know how to pull out a talk-back relay, and when he did the radio wouldn't even work. After talking to them I decided That It was best I leave before my radio was the next Radio Bench Weight. Ray Hello, You gave a bad right up about the Dust Mod kit from R & R Comm. in DE. They have been in business for 30 years and I have had 2 radios to them in the past 8 years for both the Mod Kit and the Power kit. There has not been anyone in the 4 state area that could make my Galaxy and Ranger talk louder and cleaner. I have had both kits installed in these 2 radios for about 2 years now and I got enormous amount of compliments. As for the Bird PEP adaptor, I don't think you know what it is used for. If you can make a Bird swing forward without using a PEP Adaptor and have clean modulation then your radio is kicking ass. The PEP Adaptor Kit is for the wish full tech, who is looking for a false reading to tell his customer that there Cobra 25ltd is swinging 40 or 50 watts. This is such a lie. Why not just use a Dosy or Radio Shack junk meter. I am not a know it all Ham operator but maybe I can teach you idiots a thing or two about RF. I also own a Cobra 29ltd that I use for competition. This unit drives 1 driver into a final stage amp. I had R & R add there 12 watt dead-key kit with a variable to this radio. I use a Bird with NO PEP Adaptor Kit and several different wattage slugs. After I had these mods done I noticed a 125 watt increase in forward swing(pep) with my RMS Bird. You guys should learn about what you are hacking on before making stupid comments. Try going to the radio contest (Key-Downs) and see who's radio modifications are winning over everyone else. Oh I forgot, you don't believe in more than 3watts with 98% mod. What a waste of web space. Ken Donato the Keydown Clown Ken, you can't even spell write up. R&R is on the Blacklist for the same reason everyone else is, for ripping modulation limiters out of transmitters. they even admit it on their site. any transmitted am signal that exceeds 4:1 peak-carrier when measured for peak envelope power or 1.5:1 peak-to-carrier when measured for average power produces an overmodulated, distorted signal. deal with it, you're boring me. any further responses from you will be deleted from the server. you have a nice day now. your email is absolutely pointless, congratulations! now go key up over someone with your overpriced electronic phallic symbol and go away. Hello, Just found your site I sure wish I had seen it before buying my 6300 F25 from R&R in wilmington Delaware. With in one month after purchase which included the "Dusty Swing and Dusty Mod" it stopped swinging they said it was a bad solder joint at mic connector billed me 50 dollars. I used it 5 more months and same thing happened. Now they wanted9 weeks to look at it. So I sent it to Ranger for service. They laughed sent it back stateing poor kit and even more "Piss Poor" solder repair job. They would not touch it. I opened it up and it looks like the pictures of the connex 3300 on your page. I have not been able to find any one to work on it now. Any help here? I have to much invested to just through away. Thanks Sid P.S. I am adviseing every one around here to check out your site first before buying to save headaches later.
